I’ve lived in Costa Mesa for 40 years.
My wife Heather and I bought a home here to raise our son Kyle and our daughter Presley. We love this city and we’re proud to have started our family here.
Growing up in the heart of Orange County, I attended Bear Street Elementary, Tewinkle Middle School and Costa Mesa High during the 1970s when it was transitioning from fields and farmland to the city we enjoy today.
I started my career in the 1980’s learning the value of hard work as a cabinetmaker and staircase builder at a local woodshop.
Recognizing my passion for public-sector construction work and building teams, I later became an apprentice and joined the Operating Engineers Training Trust Local 12, or OETT for short, to become a building inspector.

This began my more than two-decade career with the Operating Engineers Training Trust Local 12, a nonprofit labor organization dedicated to the dignity of work. Part of my job is to teach the profession of building inspection to the next generation of apprentices and journeypersons for work on major infrastructure projects across the region.
My experience with the OETT includes 16 years as an accredited teacher through the Rio Hondo College and Santiago Canyon College career and technical education programs. Our apprenticeship program provides future workers with in-depth instruction for credentials in structural plan reading, construction technology and building inspection.
Today, my job as an Inspection Coordinator with OETT Local 12 includes overseeing the entire inspection program for Southern California and coordinating the apprenticeship program for building inspection on major infrastructure and development projects. I also serve as Vice Chair for the Apprentice Coordinators Association of Southern California.
My wife Heather Gameros spent her teenage years in Huntington Beach before moving to Costa Mesa to buy a home together and raise our family here. Heather has previously served locally on the PTA board at our daughter’s school, and she currently enjoys being part of the foster team with Costa Mesa’s Priceless Pet Rescue nonprofit.
We enjoy spending free time with our two kids.
Our son Kyle has played in Costa Mesa National Little League, Costa Mesa PONY Baseball, Costa Mesa AYSO Soccer and Friday Night Lights Football.
Our younger daughter Presley plays Costa Mesa AYSO Soccer and helps take care of our two dogs.
I’ve enjoyed helping out with practices and games for their teams as a scorekeeper, assistant coach and sometimes the game photographer.
